The Story
"Our access control equipment was at the end of life, so we needed to go to something else," explains Jon Delgadillo, Director of Support Services at the City of New Britain. After bringing together 90 doors for access control, plus security and CCTV at City Hall, Mammoth Security got rave reviews for their work. New Britain mayor, Erin Stewart said, "We're really grateful for Mammoth. Safety and security is their upmost priority. They came in on-time and under budget, and made all our staff and employees feel safe." The mayor was so impressed that when the new Public Works Operations Center was being constructed, the City of New Britain had no hesitation in tasking Mammoth Security to extend the current Protege GX system to include the new location.
City Yard safely secured
With 4 buildings and 24 doors across the site, the new City Yard houses the entire Department of Public Works staff and administration.
Jon Delgadillo, Director of Support Services at the City of New Britain, says, "the facility is designed to serve all the public works operations internally and keep city assets safe."
"It has facilities to store the city fleet properly. This includes snowplows, maintenance vehicles, and equipment. The new Fire Department maintenance garage is also attached to part of this facility, and it's also going to be one of the city's main backup data centers."
Intrusion integrated
Eugene Klimaszewski, President at Mammoth Security, explains some of the features that will make life easier for Delgadillo and the Public Works team. "We've installed long-range readers at the main gate for ease of access. And there's integration between the overhead garage doors and intrusion detection that's all controlled through Protege GX."
Delgadillo continues, "With over 50 garage doors, being able to integrate alarms into the security platform means employees can be sure the doors are all closed before arming the alarm. Notifications that a garage door is open is definitely a benefit of having the ICT system."
Long lasting and easy
New Britain needs security products that are long lasting and would stand up to vandals, not just break by somebody walking by. They also wanted a solution that would allow users to work on the fly – whether that's a security guard or an admin.
And with millions of dollars' worth of equipment, the city yard needs to be secure. "Having state of the art access control and security technology here is an asset for us. ICT provides a great structure as far as the solution, products, and support," he continues.
